Beautiful Light

Beautiful light is everything when it comes to photography.  Actually the word photography means something along the lines of painting with light.   I just love using natural light when taking portraits, particularly back lighting.   It can be a little tricky to master but well worth the effort.   I enjoy looking at other photographer’s work to see all the different results they achieve using only natural lighting and at the same time read up on all the methods they using.   Once upon a time if your image had sun flare in it or your background highlights were blown out it would have been considered a technically flawed photo.  Now all of those things are seen as  artistic.   A little while ago I took some shots of this model sitting in a paddock surround only by long grass with the sun setting behind her.  I just knew at the time I shot this photo it was going to be a ‘keeper’.    The tall grass was a soft  background for the shot and the sun setting behind her provided lovely warm and soft light.   I used a gold reflector to bounce some light back into her gorgeous face and I really love the look that I achieved.  She almost looks a little angelic doesn’t she?  I love the soft glow of this shot and with that beautiful simple background your focus goes straight to her stunning eyes.   Very happy with this one!
