I can’t believe it! There actually is a field of sunflowers right under my nose in North Melbourne. To be honest calling it a field is stretching the truth slightly, its more a vacant block of sunflowers. Last week I heard about this project that an artist called Ben Morieson created called Fieldworks. His plan was to beautify vacant blocks in the inner city by creating this as a work of art. How great do these sunflowers look set against the brick graffiti wall? Sadly in three weeks all of these lovely sunflowers will die. Probably even sooner due to the extreme hot weather we are having here in Melbourne.

One of the things I liked about these two shots is that the backgrounds are completely foreign to how we normally see photos of beautiful fields of sunflowers. They certainly aren’t normally seen with graffiti walls and freeways as a back drop.
