aunty bella’s vintage lace | blue and white| pansies | teacups | etsy

The last few days have been a little cool and bleak so I took the opportunity to stay at home and experiment with a few ideas that have been bouncing around in my head for a while.   It started with my Aunty Bella’s beautiful lace supper cloth (I am sure people don’t use that term now) which was given to me years ago by my Aunty Glad.   I can’t tell you how special this supper cloth is to me.  I wanted to include it some way in my personal photography project.    Aunty Bella was my Grandmother’s (dad’s mum) sister.  I never knew my Grandmother, sadly she died when my dad was only two years old.  But there has always been something about her that fascinated me.  So to get something created by her sister was really special.   I am sure Aunty Glad knew I would treasure it when she gave it to me.  The handwork in this lace is divine.  I think it could be more than 80 years old now.  The  last image of the stacked teacups just evolved because I liked the way they looked stacked!  The old silver spoon was Steve’s mums ( I know I need to clean it but it looks great tarnished in photographs) and the blue and white platter was my Great Great Grandmothers this is definitely over 100 years old.

I started out taking images of the lace and then added in the spoon, platter and teacups to see what looked the best next to the lace.   The following images are a few of the ones I liked best from my session:
