For those of you who don’t know me you wouldn’t realise that I am an extremely passionate Geelong (AFL) supporter. This year my team the Cats won the Grand Final against Collingwood. I am still excited about beating Collingwood and it has been over a month since the game was played! Beating Collingwood made this year’s Grand Final win seem even a little better if that is possible. Those that follow AFL football will know what I mean.
My love of football or should I say Geelong came about because my dad was a passionate Geelong supporter. Although he didn’t actually go to many games he would always ‘fire’ up the radio about 1 hour before the game to listen to all the pre game commentary and then listen to the game on 3GL (an old Geelong based radio station). I can remember as a 9 year old sitting around the kitchen table listening to the games with him. It was our Saturday afternoon ritual in football season. Although he passed away quite a long time ago I always think of how he would have loved to see the way ‘his’ Cats have played over the past 5 or 6 years.
The other day we decided to take a photo of little Jonah in his Geelong beanie as a surprise for his dad, who like me is a staunch Cats fan. I have a feeling that John will pass on his love of the Cats to his son just as my dad did to me and my sister. John is just starting a little younger with Jonah!
I hope you like the shot of your little man John.
