Since way back when I was in my 20’s I have always wanted take a ride on Harley and for some reason never did anything about it. There was a time back then that I even decided I liked the idea of riding a motor bike and thought about getting my motor bike licence, but thankfully I changed my mind about that quick smart!
Last year I was telling my husband Steve about this crazy wish of mine and he decided to surprise me with a gift voucher for a Harley ride as part of my Christmas present. I was so excited yet a little scared too. You know the old saying “be careful what you wish for you may get it”. Hmmm that happened. Once I got my gift voucher I started to get serious cold feet. Thoughts like “may be at my age shouldn’t be getting on the back of motor bike” were running through my head. As we get a little older self preservation becomes a little more important. But I still wanted to do it. This year has flown by so quickly that I missed my opportunity to take my ride in summer and autumn so I decided I would wait until the weather warmed up a bit and I booked it for November thinking it would nice and warm then. Well wouldn’t you know it, in Melbourne yesterday is rained non stop all day and most of the night and was freezing cold. I was beginning to think my ride this morning would be cancelled but thankfully the rain stopped and the weather cleared but it was still pretty cold.
While we were driving in to meet Andy from Andy’s Harley Rides www.andysharleyrides.com.au I said to Steve that I hoped that Andy would look like a real bikie, you know the big grey beard and long hair. We both laughed and said that Andy would probably not look anything like that. But guess what he did! Andy is a real bikie! He was absolutely lovely. Bikie’s probably don’t like to be called lovely but he was. I felt very safe the whole time we were out on the road. I did take my camera along of course but once I got there I was so pre occupied with taking my ride and being scared that I only took a couple of quick snap shots. These are really not photographic master pieces but they help tell the story of my morning. So much fun!

Andy the real bikie with the grey beard and everything. I really should have given him some warning I was going to snap this shot of him.

And last but not least I had to post one shot of me to prove I actually did it.

So if you any of you get the crazy idea to take a Harley ride make sure you call Andy he will make sure you have a great time and travel safely 🙂
