“The best camera you have is the one you have with you at the time” It’s a quote from my friend Peter who is a wonderful photographer. Peter is a guy who is never without his camera. He told me this once when I showed him a snap and then lamented, “but it’s only a photo that I took with my iPhone”. I never have considered any of the photos I have taken with my phone as a ‘proper’ photo. I would never dream of trying to getting one printed.
However, I hardly ever take my camera with me when I just go out for the day. The main reason for this is that my camera is just way too heavy. Add in a couple of lenses and it just isn’t going to happen.
The other day for some reason I did take my camera when I met my friend Jen for coffee. Not sure why I did, but I am really glad I did. Because I shot this! I love this photograph. The Sun theatre in Yarraville is where Steve and I go if we want to see a movie. It is small old theatre that has been restored to its former glory. Going to the movies there is like stepping back in time.
When I edited this photograph I deliberately used textures that gave it a bit of retro look. I think it could pass for a photo taken years ago don’t you?
The moral to this tale you ask? Julie needs to look into buying a smaller camera …
